How To Choose A Paint Color To Set The Right Mood For Your Bedroom

Posted on

Color has a huge psychological impact on people, which is why choosing the right paint colors for each room in your home is important. You want to be sure that you choose colors that appeal to your own personality, but also help set the specific type of mood that you feel that the space needs. Choosing paint color for the bedroom space is especially important for this reason. Since you begin and end your day in this space, you want to be sure that the color is going to help you both settle down for the night, but also allow you to wake up in the morning. Here's how to choose the right paint color for your bedroom:

A Peaceful Setting:

If you are the type of person that doesn't rush off to work every morning, then a peaceful paint color for the bedroom space may just be the right choice for you. This will allow you to wake up gently and also allow you to easily settle down for the night. In order to achieve this setting in the bedroom, the best paint color choices would be on the cool spectrum, such as blue, green, and gray. It's best to choose muted versions of these colors so that they don't appear bold on the bedroom walls, but rather subtle.

A Happy Setting:

Happy, cheerful colors are great for children's bedrooms. You may just choose these colors for your own room, as well if you prefer it. Colors to create a cheerful mood would be any that don't have any gray undertones, which are geared towards creating a more peaceful space. Instead, choose pure colors, such as pink, yellow, or white.

A Dramatic Setting:

If you are the type of person who has a bold personality, then you are probably going to be happiest waking up to dramatic and bold colors, such as dark purple, green, or blue. However, painting all four of the walls this color can be overwhelming, so if it's too much then it's better to just paint the wall that the head of your bed rests on. You can paint the rest of the walls a light, muted color.

A Romantic Setting:

Creating a bedroom space that is more romantic may be appealing to newlyweds or for those who just enjoy romance. To create a bedroom space that sets the mood for this, you may choose paint colors such as light pink, off-white with gold undertones, or any pastel color.

Knowing some of the setting types that you can create with paint color alone will help you with your first step to creating the perfect bedroom for you. It's best to hire professional painting contractors at this point who can help paint the color on your walls in the perfect shade and with perfectly even brush strokes.
